About the event
In 1976, President Gerald Ford extended the week by declaring February as Black History Month to honor Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century, to African Americans living in the United States today. The contributions and achievements of African Americans can not be celebrated within one month, it is imperative that we acknowledge them year-round.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Black History Month. Below you will find different events to help celebrate this very significant month. We encourage everyone to expand their knowledge and understanding of this rich history so that it is never forgotten.
